I went for a walk today(an hour) it felt so good, but I had to push myself. I know I am not the only one who makes excuses for exercising, or maybe I am. But, I have been on my sugar detox for a month and my weight loss results is not what I wanted. I have been making excuses and it is time to stop. This morning’s walk felt sooo good. Even though I was hurting, ears hurting, cold(the wind was blowing), thirsty. I am not use to exercising. But, you feel so good after you exercise. I know God will help me lose my weight but I am not doing anything to help myself. I have to give Him something to work with. Just like paying tithes. You give God something to work with when you pay your tithes, but if you dont then He dont have anything to work with. Its the same way with exercising, if you can not get out and exercise and stay at home and eat bon -bons, and pray you lose weight well think again. God will help you but you have to help yourself too. Well, I feel good after my morning walk and I encourage everyone just to slow life down and take time to walk and exercise.
WATER WATER WATER
I do not drink water as much as I should. Am I the only one?? Do you drink enough water every day?? I know my body needs water. Majority of my body is water. Everyone needs water, so you will not dehydrate. Cokes, Sprites, coffee, tea, etc… you can drink those but it is not water. Your body needs just plain water. Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles, lower back pain, headaches, and fatigue(feeling tired). That is just a few. I have been feeling tired and drained these last couple of days, and its because I am not drinking enough water. People dont even realize that they are dehydrated. They just blame it on going to bed late, getting up early, needing caffeine, and all the while… its water. I drink water, but not as near enough like I need to be drinking. I did for a couple of days, but slowly cut back. I need to make myself drink water, the amount I need everyday.

God made you, he created you just like He wanted and your body is made up of water (I believe 70%). Physically and Spiritually you need water. I say Spiritually, because if you do not spend time with God, talk with Him, read His Word, Pray, then you will get dehydrated. Spiritually you will feel tired and drained then you will completely get on the wrong track. You will start following your other friends instead of following your best friend. Follow God and He will give you water for ever lasting life…:)
John 4:14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Change your Tomorrow by changing your WORDS
“I can’t lose weight, I will never meet my weight goal, I need SUGAR, I crave sugar, I can not live without sugar, I am addicted to chocolate, etc…” These are all words that we say over our body. Words are very powerful. When you speak any of these words over your body then you just spoke death over yourself. Wake up!!! realize what you are saying to your and over your body. You can speak LIFE over your body or DEATH over your body. Start speaking ” I can lose weight, I will lose weight, Sugar has no control over me, I am not addicted to sugar, I will meet my weight goal, etc..” You can change your tomorrow and future by the words you speak over your body.
Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
I challenge you today to start speaking words of life over you and your body. Start today by changing your tomorrow by changing your WORDS.

Today is 2 weeks…WOW
Well, it has already been 2 weeks since I started my detox journey. I have had some rough days and some energetic wonderful days…lol
I pray my rough days are over. They say it takes at least 12 weeks before you completely do not even think or crave any sugar. I dont crave sugar like I use to, but when someone talks about sweets I do think about the taste and how they taste. That will leave hopefully. I can honestly say I dont have that craving, for example a pint of ice cream has been sitting in my freezer for 2 weeks and I have not touched it nor even wanted it. So, I can tell my body and mind is changing about sugar…:) I hope and pray out of this journey for my friends and family to see first what sugar does to there body and all the symptoms that go along with eating sugar, and to start eating healthy(eating more fruits and vegetables). I have not started exercising like I am suppose to. I do exercise but nothing like 3-6 hours a day like some athletes. At the end of my journey I hope to accomplish my weight loss goal, eating healthier, exercise more. Those are my goals for this journey.

Blind…but now I can see
Before I began this journey I was blind about sugar. I had to idea what sugar did to my body. I could not see clearly what was happening to my body when I was putting table sugar in my system. The more I ate sugar(doughnuts, candy, sodas, etc. The more I craved and wanted more sugar. It got to the point that when I had a headache, I would go and drink a coke, because I said whew I need some caffeine to get rid of this headache. Well, after the coke, my headache would leave. I was relieved, but today looking back, it was not the caffeine, it was the sugar in the coke. My body was craving that sugar and caused me to get a headache. It is so crazy how your body is so use to sugar(table sugar)and when you dont have in a day your body starts to have withdrawals…WOW!!! Is that not crazy???
The more I read up on sugar I am so amazed at some of the symptoms that you get just eating sugar, here are some…

Sugar can cause depression,
Sugar can cause hormonal imbalance,
Sugar can cause headaches, including migraines,
Sugar causes food allergies,
Sugar can cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children, and there are a lot more.
Just look up on google, what sugar does to your body, you will be surprised…I was. I am so thankful that the Lord opened my eyes, and He is restoring my body. I dont think I look at sweets the same as I did.
They say it takes at least 12 weeks, before your body will stop completely thinking about sugar. But, I can tell you already I do not crave sugar like I use to. It is so amazing, because if you knew how I was with sweets you would be amazed at the difference in me now. For instance everytime I went to my moms I would grab something sweet, but now I grab some fruit. It is so amazing.
I am so thankful for God showing me what sugar does to my body, and so thankful He is restoring my body.
Mark 8:25
25Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Learn from your mistakes
That is all I have to say about eating healthy(for a week and half) and then thinking you can eat whatever you want. Well, have I learned my lesson. Yes, I have. You can not go and eat healthy, exercising, drinking water(96 oz) everyday and then go and think you can eat whatever you please. I got so sick at my stomach. I have learned my lesson.

Its the same thing with your Christian walk with the Lord. You can not accept HIM in your heart and then turn around and think you are going to do whatever you want. The Lord says you can not be luke warm…
Revelation 3:15-16
“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
You have to learn your mistakes and move on with the journey you started.

Failed…but keep running
I love knowing that God’s love, grace and mercy is there whenever I fail Him. Just by not spending time with Him, or not spending time in His Word, or truly not seeking Him. God has always been here for me no matter what happens. I absolutely love that about my Savior. As a christian I fail Him all the time. If I wake up and not truly acknowledge Him and his beauty all around me. By not thanking Him when I first wake up for another day here on earth with my Family and Friends. It seems like I am always failing, but God’s mercy and grace accepts me for who I am. Because by no means I am no way perfect. Its funny how others are right there to judge you when you mess up your walk with the Lord. But, my Jesus has always been there for me and He knows I am no way perfect or even near being perfect. One thing I have to do when I fall off with my walk with my Lord is get back up and go again. I can never give up,never quit this race I have started with my Lord Jesus. Thank You Jesus for your grace and mercy.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So you are wondering where sugar comes in at?? Well, today I messed up, I failed my project that I started. No, I did not eat sugar like you are thinking…doughnuts, soda, candy, etc… But, I did eat Chinese food…lots of carbs which turns into sugar. UGH!!! Well, guess what?? I can not quit because I made the mistake of eating something that I wanted. I can not quit running this race that I started. Look at what I accomplished, more energy, just feels good, etc… So, am I going to beat myself down about it and start judging myself because I failed at this journey that I began a week and half ago. NO!!! I will not. I will continue running this race. And guess what, if I fail again I will get right back up and get back on the track again.

Water and Sugar in your body
Water. Your body is made up of mostly of water. Approximately 85% of your brain, 80% of your blood and 70% of your muscle is water. Every cell in your body needs water to live. You can see how important water is to you.
Water helps remove the dangerous toxins that your body takes in from the air you breathe, the food you eat and the chemicals used in the various products you use on your skin and hair. Other things water does for your body is to cushion your joints. Water carries oxygen and nutrients into all your cells. Water also helps regulate your body temperature.
You need water to keep your metabolism working properly. In order for this to happen, there is a certain level of water in each of our bodies that we need to maintain. If we don’t keep that amount, our bodies will start to dehydrate. An easy way to think of it is to think of your car’s need for oil. If your oil level gets too low, your engine will start to run rough. If you totally deplete your oil supply in your car, your engine will stop running. Same with your body. Therefore it is easy to see why it is very important to drink six to eight glasses of water a day.
In the spiritual form of water… John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Physically and Spiritually we need water, so we will not get dehydrated. I am speaking to myself to when I say this. We need to be having more devotion time than just reading(the Bible) and praying but really seeking after HIM. So I pray(you pray for me) that we will not just read and pray, but take this time, and really seek after HIM.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

This is an excellent question, and one that I think applies to almost everyone. In answering it, I’m going to give you a brief description of the biochemical events that take place when a person consumes sugar.
In explaining this subject to many people over a period of several years, I found the most useful metaphor to be that of an automobile engine. Let’s take a Toyota Corolla, one of the most popular cars on the street today. The Toyota Corolla has an engine that’s designed to burn a certain type of fuel. That fuel, gasoline, has a certain flash point and a given output of power per gallon of gasoline. There are other fuels that power other types of vehicles — for example, jets run on a high-octane petroleum product that has far more energy per gallon than automobile gasoline. Diesel fuel, on the other hand, burns more slowly.
So you have different types of fuels for different vehicles. Most people understand the idea that if you took your Toyota Corolla, drove it down to the airport, and filled it up on jet fuel, you wouldn’t get a faster Toyota Corolla. Instead, you would get a critically damaged Toyota Corolla engine, because the fuel would burn too hot, too fast, and it would overpower the design of the engine. In fact, you probably wouldn’t drive more than 10 miles before the engine burned up, and you would have to overhaul the entire engine in order to drive your car again.
This is sort of what goes on when it comes to the human digestive system and sugars. The human digestive system was designed to consume foods that are readily available in the natural surrounding environment. These foods can be compared to certain types of fuels because each food releases energy at a given rate during digestion (primarily based on fiber and fructose content).
As an example, let’s take a look at an apple. It contains fiber, vitamins and minerals, and lots of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates are the fuel. But the carbohydrates are bound up in the fiber of the apple so that it takes your body a fair amount of time and effort to release those carbohydrates and convert them into fuel. So you could call the apple a medium-burning carbohydrate, or in medical terms, it has a lower glycemic index than straight sugar.
But if you take straight sugar, that is, refined white sugar, which is something that does not occur naturally in the environment, and you put that in your mouth, then your body converts that into blood sugar very rapidly. It’s like pouring jet fuel down your throat. This is the same as filling up your Toyota gas tank with jet fuel and trying to drive away. When you eat sugar you consume soft drinks — which are even worse because they are liquid sugar — you are trying to run your metabolic engine on jet fuel, and the human metabolic engine was not designed to run on jet fuel.
So what happens? When you first consume any sort of refined sugars or refined carbohydrates (like white flour), the digestion process begins immediately — in fact, it begins even before you swallow the foods. There are digestive enzymes in your saliva that go to work on these sugars and start converting them into blood sugar, even before they hit your stomach. Once they’re in your stomach, they are mixed with acidic digestive juices and physically churned through stomach muscle contractions so that it creates a liquid paste. This liquid, sugary paste is then very easily absorbed through the intestinal walls, causing a rapid spike in blood sugar levels.
So your blood sugar, which might have been around 80 or 90 before you drank the soft drink or ate that candy bar, now suddenly starts spiking up to 150 or 200, or perhaps even higher. This creates an emergency situation in your body. High blood sugar is very dangerous for human beings. If it is allowed to continue, it will cause symptoms that are more classically known as diabetic neuropathy, which means the nerves that feed various limbs in your body (feet, mostly) start to die. Diabetics who maintain high blood sugar over a long period of time often have to have their feet amputated because the nerves in their feet are wasting away.
Next time you drink a soft drink, eat any sweets, etc. think about what you are eating…actually it is liquid sugar. WOW!! Would you actually get a glass of water and put 16 teaspoons of sugar in it and drink it?? GROSS!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

Retrain your taste buds
The best way to curb cravings: how to retrain your taste buds-plus, the truth about gauging your weight-loss success
Shape, Sept, 2008 by Sally Kuzemchak
Q Is it true that if you give up fatty or sugary foods you’ll eventually stop wanting them?
A Yes, provided you do it properly. “There is evidence that you can change your preferences in about 12 weeks,” says Katherine Tallmadge, R.D., a dietitian in Washington, D.C., and the author of Diet Simple. A study published in the journal Appetite found that when women cut out 29 percent of the fat in their diets, their desire for foods like butter, cream sauces, and mayonnaise diminished.

Sweet Tooth
Avoiding Sugar is something that is hard to do. I hear a lot of people say, “I need to do a sugar detox, but I am so addicted to sugar”. Everyone is addicted to sugar, because first did you know that we are born with a sweet tooth. Think about it, when you breastfeed your baby. The breast milk is sweet. AH! so that is where it comes from, “our sweet tooth”. So, yes it is hard to control our sweet tooth, because we have always wanted something sweet since birth. But, here is the great thing, we are old enough now to take control of our sweet tooth. YES! it is very hard, but remember Philippians 4:13…The Lord gives you the strength. You are human, you are weak, you will give in. But, you are not alone on this journey, just like I am not alone. This is 7 days since no sweets, just the natural sugar(fruit). I feel really good…Energy, yes. My tongue, its like my taste buds are more open than before. It is really amazing. At first, i was like what is going on with my tongue. If you no anything what the tongue(taste buds) does when you do a sugar detox, let me know?? I am so thankful that I started this journey. Anybody could do this, if I can do it you can do it too.
Just remember you can overcome your sweet tooth.
